A recent real estate win is certainly making Shepard Fairey a happy man. According to Trulia, comic actor Jason Segel purchased Fairey’s Mediterranean-style home in Los Angeles for a handsome $2.25 million, a little over $400,000 more than the artist’s original asking price of $1.84 million. Why Segel would spend a considerable sum more for the house is something of a mystery, but we doubt the American street artist is asking any questions.

Built in 1929—and retaining much of its original charm—the 2,523-square-foot property sits along a quiet road in the city’s Los Feliz neighborhood. In addition to multiple outdoor spaces that overlook the surrounding expanse and a suite of other lofty features, the house boasts four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, an airy living room, and a dining room paired with an adjacent viewing balcony.

Fairey and his family bought the house for $1.37 million in 2005. “The house also has a two-car garage which Mr. Fairey used as a studio,” Sotheby’s real-estate agent Patricia Ruben told the Wall Street Journal. The Faireys were reportedly no longer living in the residence when they listed it for $1.85 million in January of this year. According to public records, the Faireys purchased a different Los Feliz house in the summer of 2015.

With the proceeds from the latest sale, perhaps Fairey can pay his legal bills in Detroit, where he was recently prosecuted for malicious destruction of property for unauthorized street art. After an October court appearance, Fairey was slated to begin trial on January 26, but there has been no recent news about the case’s status.

Segel, who’s been actively acquiring multiple homes in the greater Los Angeles area, adds the former Fairey home to his growing collection. In addition to two West Hollywood properties he purchased in 2007 and 1010, Segel bought a $1.4 million property in Hollywood Hills this past year.
