With Art Basel in Basel just around the corner, the fair has revealed the lineup of 15 site-specific works that will be installed around the historic Rheingasse in Kleinbasel as part of its Parcours programming. Curating once again is the director of FRAC Champagne-Ardenne, Florence Derieux, who has selected works ranging from a monumental sculpture of entwined triangles by Eva Rothschild and João Penalva’s collection of vintage photographs of men sleeping on the street, to performances by Mario Garcia Torres, Darren Bader, and a 45-minute requiem by Guido van der Werve.

Parcours opens the day before the fair, with a so-called “Parcours Night” from 8 p.m. to midnight on June 18. There, fair-goers will also get to see works by the aforementioned artists plus a peaceful room adorned with vintage lamps and benches by Chris Burden, a parodic advertising campaign by Ryan Gander, and monumental horseshoes by Mark Handforth. Seth Price is bound to get the crowd worked up with his piece, 8–4 9–5 10–6 11–7 (2007), which is an eight-hour compilation of dance music from the last three decades. It will be playing in its entirety at 11 locations throughout the Kleinbasel neighborhood.

Rounding out the Parcours lineup will be Francesco Arena, Gottfried Bechtold, Pierre Bismuth, Jean-Luc Blanc, Iman Issa, and Zeng Fanzhi—the latter of who is sure to startle the summery crowds with his sculpture of a plum tree branch seemingly covered with a dusting of snow.
