EXPO CHICAGO 2015, the international exposition of contemporary and modern art, welcomes two new curators for their 4th edition (see Spotlight on EXPO CHICAGO 2013).

From September 17-20, the four-day event will feature over 140 premiere international galleries plus some dedicated art programming (see Expo Chicago’s Third Edition Boasts Show Curated by Shaq). Incoming curator Louis Grachos will head IN/SITU at this year’s show and Alfredo Cramerotti will oversee EXPO VIDEO.

IN/SITU offers site-specific projects in the main presentation hall and peppered throughout the city of Chicago. EXPO VIDEO, presented in conjunction with Columbia College Chicago, delivers an array of new media, film and video works in viewing stations designed by Studio Gang Architects.

EXPO CHICAGO’s agenda also includes the first annual Greater Midwest Curatorial Forum, a program providing networking for curators and access to prestigious Chicago art collections.

Louis Grachos, The Contemporary Austin’s Executive Director, will curate artworks from the international gallery exhibitors (see Tom Friedman Creates 33-Foot-Tall Sculpture for Contemporary Austin).

“Working with the IN/SITU program at EXPO CHICAGO is a perfect platform to further the type of large-scale, site specific and collaborative projects to which I have been committed to at The Contemporary Austin and in previous positions,” comments Grachos. “I am thrilled to have access to some of the greatest artists working today, and look forward to featuring their work in the unique, multi-faceted space of Navy Pier’s Festival Hall.”

Alfredo Cramerotti will curate cutting-edge film, video and new media works. He is a writer, independent curator and director of MOSTYN, one of the UK’s leading alternative contemporary museums. Cramerotti is currently working on the Pavilion of Mauritius at the 56^th Venice Art Biennale in May 2015.

“It is very exciting to work on EXPO CHICAGO’s EXPO VIDEO, presenting a range of the most vibrant and relevant moving image works produced today,” said Cramerotti. “The selection will mirror what’s going on in artist’s studios worldwide and provide visitors an important slice of contemporary culture.”

A luncheon hosted by EXPO CHICAGO will be held on Friday, September 18. The event will feature curators Lisa Corrin, Ellen Philips Katz Director at the Block Museum of Art, Michael Darling, James W. Alsdorf Chief Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Solveig Øvstebø, Executive Director of The Renaissance Society, and James Rondeau, Chair & Frances and Thomas Dittmer Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Institute of Chicago.
