This week join us in Berlin, where we’re touring the fourth annual Berlin Art Week starting on September 15. There will be plenty of big events for art lovers to explore, from the fresh abc art berlin contemporary to the artist talks and panels hosted by POSITIONS BERLIN Art Fair, but be sure to save your energy so you don’t miss out on the numerous gallery exhibitions in this über arty city.

Make a trip to Sprüth Magers Berlin London to see the impressive line-up of Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Louise Lawler, Cindy Sherman, and Rosemarie Trockel opening September 16, or for another group of real heavy-hitters, head to Side by Side Gallery Akim Monet GmbH for Rodin – Rilke – Beuys, opening September 18. To sample some younger contemporary artists, go take in Asgar / Gabriel: Cake and Coincidence at Galerie Michael Schultz for a show featuring the new work of the collaborative duo Asgar/Gabriel, whose paintings constantly explore boundaries from the personal to the social, the figurative to the abstract. Closing soon is Michael Müller’s latest exhibition at Galerie Thomas Schulte, a continuation of the 18-part cycle he began at the gallery in 2013. Müller has 15 actors performing in the space, on top of or using the exhibited objects, so be sure to catch this ambitious project in its final days. Lovers of painting can’t afford to pass up Nicole Eisenman’s playful show at Galerie Barbara Weiss featuring lush paintings on paper, or the brooding and expressionist work of Erich Heckel and Max Kaus on display at Jörg Maass Kunsthandel.

The gallery season is definitely back in session! As summer winds down and sunny days are fewer and far between, take advantage of exploring these galleries on bike or on foot while you still can.
