As the art world gears up for Art Basel in Miami Beach (see “Art Basel in Miami Beach 2014 Boasts an Intimidating 267 Galleries“), Art Basel in Hong Kong has announced its list of participating dealers for 2015, and there are 231. As usual, the fair will highlight the best art from Asia and the Pacific.

Hailing from 37 different countries and territories, the fair will feature a number of first-time exhibitors including New York’s Edward Tyler Nahem Fine Art, Paris’s Kamel Mennour, Taipei’s Liang Gallery, and Hong Kong’s am space. More than half of participants have exhibition spaces in Asia or the Pacific.

Now in its third edition, this year’s fair will be the first entirely under Art Basel ownership, as the buyout of former owners Asian Art Fairs, who sold Art HK in 2011, was recently completed (see “Art Basel Completes Hong Kong Art Fair Buy-Out“).

The main section of the show, Galleries, will feature Modern and contemporary works from 177 dealers, while Insights will showcase the curatorial projects of 34 galleries. In Discoveries, an additional 20 galleries will offer solo presentations of work by emerging artists.

The fair’s Encounter’s section, curated by Alexie Glass-Kantor (see “Art Basel in Hong Kong Hires Alexie Glass-Kantor as Encounters Curator“), will house large-scale sculpture and installations while the Film sector, curated by Li Zhenhua, will be back after a successful first outing in 2014. As always, Conversations and Salons will offer a full slate of talks and panel discussions.

Art Basel in Hong Kong will be on view March 15–17, 2015.
