Seasoned art critic, reporter, and editor Brian Boucher is the newest team member at artnet News, the world’s only 24-hour art news website.

A 10-year veteran of Art in America, Boucher has served as the magazine’s web editor since March 2013. He has written feature articles on such artists as Ken Price, Michael Rakowitz, Tom Sachs, and Rachel Harrison, and broken major news, such as the story about the sale of the Armory Show. As an investigative journalist, Boucher reported on the preponderance of artists with Marian Goodman Gallery being featured in solo exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and explored the increasing length of time allotted to gallery shows as dealers participate in more art fairs.

Boucher received his masters degree in the history of art from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and completed his undergraduate degree at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York, also in art history. Prior to joining Art in America, he worked for the Frick Collection and at the American Federation of Arts.

“Boucher brings to artnet News years of experience, a variety of talents, and a rich background in the arts,” artnet News executive editor Rozalia Jovanovic said. “I’m thrilled to have him join the team.”

In a way, Boucher is coming full circle. His first art review, on the Metropolitan Museum show “Anselm Kiefer: Works on Paper, 1969-1993,” was published in artnet magazine way back in 1998.

“I’m looking forward to joining a crack team of writers, reporters, and critics with a tight handle on global developments in the art world,” Boucher said about his new position. “I’m excited to write about exhibitions, curators, artists, and newsmakers, and I thank Art in America for a great 10 years and wish them the best.”

Boucher will join artnet News as a senior writer and news reporter on January 5, 2015.
