Contemporary art continues to flourish in Dubai, with the inaugural edition of the Dubai Design District’s (d3) Design Weekend scheduled to kick off April 2.

The three-day event is a perfect follow-up to Art Dubai, on view March 18–21 (see Art Dubai Announces 2015 Projects Program). In addition to the fair’s 91 exhibiting galleries and 11 projects from artists and collectives, the week will also provide a preview of the expansion of the city’s Alserkal Avenue creative industrial space (see Alserkal Avenue Previews Expansion in Dubai). Other artistic developments in Dubai include a Museum of Future, being built for the 2020 World Expo (see Dubai To Get Its Own Eiffel Tower, the Museum of the Future).

The Design Weekend showcases a wide range design-based projects from artists and designers all over the world. Open to all, its mission is to positively engage and inspire the city’s residents while showcasing established and emerging talents artists and designers from the region and abroad.
