Dip Into the Most Bizarre Instagram Photos of Art Cologne 2016

It's about to get weird.

If we were to determine a definitive ranking of an art fair’s most appealing features, fairgoers would be second only to the art. And in instances like Art Cologne, which finds a handful of visitors expressing their own unique (if not questionable) brands of humor this week, we’d be hard-pressed to believe otherwise.

With over 200 galleries in attendance for the world’s oldest art fair for modern and contemporary art, which runs from April 14-17, visitors certainly have a lot of ground to navigate for its 50th edition. Dealers, artists, and collectors alike are flying in from farflung locales or rolling in on the Deutsche Bahn from Berlin, and are ready to see the best that Cologne has to offer.

artnet News’ Hili Perlson culled the top booths with the most promise this year, which count fair collaborators Galerie Guido W. Baudach and Delmes & Zander, as well as DĂĽsseldorf’s Van Horn gallery, which features a functioning pop-up bar courtesy of artist Claus Föttinger.

In addition to the immersive experiences above, of course, visitors also want to have a laugh. Which is where Contemporary Fine Arts Berlin‘s booth comes in, with its stand-alone wall featuring Jurgen Teller‘s 2015 photograph of reality star Kim Kardashian. The silver-clipped work hangs like a trophy, or art world sacrifice. Fairgoers, of course, took heed, as evidenced here, here, and here.

These are, naturally, just a few examples of what’s on view. For those hoping to see more of the action, we rounded up the most bizarre Instagram moments from the art fair below.
